Elecosy is an environmentally friendly, fair trade company made up of a team of professionals from the paper industry and interior design based in Belgium, the United Kingdom and Germany.
We are passionate about design, innovation, quality and the choice of environmentally friendly products. We are dedicated to sourcing and creating natural products for the communities we work with to build a more sustainable future for all of us.
The idea of Elecosy was inspired from the visit of Frank C., a paper industry expert, to Maximus Paper of the Millennium Elephant Foundation in Kegalle, in the foothills of the beautiful mountainous region of Central Sri Lanka.
Winner of numerous prestigious awards including the BBC / Shell / Newsweek World Challenge in 2006 for his project "Peace Paper" and the Energy Globe Award of the Energy Globe Foundation in 2012, Maximus employs local people to collect elephant feces that are then transformed into beautiful handmade paper objects. This provides a financial incentive that helps to reduce poverty in the region.
Inspired by the Maximus mission fighting to conserve the Sri Lankan elephant (Elephus Maximus), Frank and his business colleague Mady S. have decided to take the elephant droppings paper to a wider international audience in order to help create a sustainable local economy while solving the land conflict between humans and wild elephants.
